JPG to WebP converter
Choose JPG files and download smaller WebP versions for your website. Set the quality, convert many at once, and nothing is uploaded.
Free, no sign-up. It runs in your browser: your files and text never leave your device.
Why use WebP?
WebP is an image format made for the web. At a similar look it is usually around a quarter to a third smaller than JPG, so pages load faster and use less data. All current browsers display it.
Your browser makes the WebP files here. Chrome, Edge and Firefox can do it; Safari cannot yet save WebP from a page, and the tool will tell you if your browser saved PNG instead. Keep the original JPG as a fallback for programs that do not accept WebP.
How to convert JPG to WebP
- Choose your JPG files, or drop them on the box.
- Set the quality. 80 to 90 is a good balance.
- Compare the sizes, then download each WebP or all of them in a zip.
Questions people ask
Is WebP really smaller than JPG?
Usually. The saving is often around a quarter to a third at a similar look, but it depends on the picture.
Do all browsers show WebP?
All current browsers display WebP. Some older apps and print services do not accept it, so keep the JPG too.
Why did I get PNG files instead?

Are my pictures uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens inside your browser on your own device. Your pictures are never sent to a server, so it also works for private photos.
