How VAT is calculated in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia charges VAT at 15%, raised from 5% on 1 July 2020. To add VAT, multiply the price by 1.15. To take VAT out of a total that already includes it, divide by 1.15: for 115 riyals the price is 100 and the VAT is 15. Subtracting 15% from the total gives the wrong answer.
Registered businesses show their VAT number on invoices issued through the ZATCA e-invoicing system. This calculator only does the arithmetic; ZATCA decides how your sales are taxed and what an invoice must contain.
